SF accused of 'misrepresenting' economists' views
Sinn Féin has been accused of misrepresenting the views of three economists quoted on party literature urging voters to reject the EU Fiscal treaty.
A Sinn Féin leaflet features quotes from economists Colm McCarthy, Seamus Coffey and Karl Whelan - which appear to criticise the treaty.
But each of the three economists has gone on to recommend a 'Yes' vote in the referendum.
Speaking at an Oireachtas committee, Fine Gael TD Pascal Donoghue told the Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams that the leaflet should be withdrawn.
"You accuse the government of misrepresenting the case in relation to the treaty and talk about the approach to the campaign that is needed.
"In your own leaflet, you misquote and misrepresent economists who say that despite difficulties with the treaty that it is in Ireland's interests that it is passed," Donoghue added
