Two teachers unions have today rejected the public sector pay and reform proposals.

The memberships of the Teachers Union of Ireland and the Association on Secondary Teachers in Ireland have overwhelmingly rejected the Croke Park proposals.

The ASTI said the ballot of its members clearly indicates a "one-size-fits-all agreement" is not appropriate.

While the TUI said the main reason its members voted against the package was because it represented an "open-ended demand for renegotiation of contracts".

The third teaching union, the INTO , will release details of its ballot later today.
