A man has been seriously injured in a car crash in Co Cork.

A 28-year-old male pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a car at around 3.50am this morning on the Kilmallock Road in Charleville.

He has been taken by ambulance to Limerick Regional Hospital.

The occupants of the car were not injured.

The road is closed to traffic and diversions are in place while Garda Forensics attend the scene.
