Wind forces rescuers to suspend search for man missing at sea

A search operation off the coast of Portrush for a missing man has had to be called off for the day.

Storm-force winds have made conditions too dangerous for police and Coastguard crews to continue searching for a man who, it is believed, was swept into the water at Ramore Head on Saturday afternoon.

The 38-year-old is thought to have been swept off the rocks and into the sea by a wave at around 4.25pm yesterday afternoon.

An extensive air and sea search was called off last night due to poor light.
