Met Éireann has issued a rainfall warning for Munster, Connacht and west Ulster.

The weather service says heavy rain at times today brings a risk of thunder and localised flooding, especially in the west.

Up to 30 millimetres of rain could in parts of the west, according to the 'status yellow' warning.

A further 30 to 40 mm is possible overnight and on Thursday, meteorologists said.
