Man sentenced for threatening CAB officer

A 34 year-old man who has a previous conviction for ramming a garda car has been sentenced for threatening an officer in the Criminal Assets Bureau.

Christopher Pratt, from Ballyvolane Halting Site in Tipperary, phoned the CAB detective and threatened to take his head off with a slash-hook.

The father-of-three has a previous conviction for ramming a garda car in Dundalk.

In imposing a two-year jail term, Judge Mary Ellen Ring told Pratt that "gardaí don't sign up to be abused, I need not make any comment on the price they pay in doing their duty".
