Man pushed pipe bomb to garda station in pram

Togher garda station in Cork has been evacuated after a pipe bomb was brought into the garda station this morning by a member of the public, in a pram.

The man who brought the device to the station said he found it at the rear of his house in the nearby suburb of Ballyphehane.

The army bomb disposal team was called to the scene shortly after 10am and are currently working to make the device safe.

Gardaí do not believe that the man who found the pipe bomb was the intended target and that it may have been intended for another family living in the area.

They are investigating whether it is linked to a petrol bomb attack on a house in Blackwater Grove in Togher late last Friday night.
