A man has died after his 4 x 4 collided with a signpost in Listowel, Co Kerry.

A man has died after his 4 x 4 collided with a signpost in Listowel, Co Kerry.

It happened at Shrone East at 8.40pm yesterday.

The 51-year-old was taken to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee, where he was pronounced dead at 11pm.

The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them in Listowel.
