Gardaí are today investigating the discovery of a man's body on a road in Co Cork.

Gardaí are today investigating the discovery of a man's body on a road in Co Cork.

The dead man was found on the main Rathcormac to Glenville road, near Fermoy.

Investigating officers said they were alerted to the scene about 3km outside the village of Rathcormac after 6am this morning.

Gardaí sealed off the road and diversions for motorists were put in place.

Forensic experts have been called and the State Pathologist has been asked to attend the scene.
