Gardaí in Co Louth will this morning resume questioning a man who was detained after an armed robbery in Drogheda yesterday.

Gardaí in Co Louth will this morning resume questioning a man who was detained after an armed robbery in Drogheda yesterday.

At around 3.45pm two men entered a bank on West Street in the town armed with a hand gun and a knife.

They held up staff and made off with an undisclosed sum of cash.

An off-duty Garda detained one of the raiders while the second man escaped on a motorbike.

No shots were fired and no-one was injured and Gardaí say all the cash was recovered.

A man is his forties is being detained at Drogheda Garda station.
