Man accused of Grafton Street stabbing faces court

A 25 year-old man has appeared in court today charged in connection with two violent stabbings in the Grafton Street area of Dublin in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Leon Wright, with an address at St Teresa's Gardens, is accused of assault causing harm, robbery and the possession of a knife.

Wearing a navy tracksuit, and top, Leon Wright looked around the courtroom during today's short hearing.

He was arrested at around 4am on Tuesday morning following two stabbing incidents on Chatham Row and outside Burger King on Grafton Street.

One victim was stabbed in the chest, a second man suffered stab wounds to his back and side. Both are still in hospital.

A woman was also attacked and robbed during the incidents.

The accused man is facing three counts of assault causing harm, two charges of robbery, one of attempted robbery and the possession of a knife.

His lawyers asked the judge to order a urine analysis test, telling the Court, "it may be very, very important to our defence."

Wright made no application for bail today, and will appear again in court next week.
