Lowry will support 'brash' Shatter

At least one Independent TD says he will vote against the motion of no confidence in the Justice Minister.

In a statement, Michael Lowry said he believes the debate on Alan Shatter is an inappropriate use of Dáil time.

The North Tipperary deputy says that while a mistake was made, the integrity of Minister Shatter is not in question and therefore it is not a sacking offence.

However Michael Lowry also says he does not consider Alan Shatter a political friend as he can be "irritatingly dismissive and brash".
