Lifeboat crew rescue five people, including child, on Lough Derg

Five people, including a young child, had to be rescued on Lough Derg in Co. Tipperary yesterday after their boat suffered engine failure.

The RNLI Lifeboat was called in by Valentia Coast Guard at about 7pm to assist the 28 foot boat which was drifting near Ryan's Point.

There were four adults and a young child on board the cruiser when rescuers located it near Dromineer Bay and discovered all onboard safe and well.

The boat was then towed back to berth and tied up safely.
