Judge gives suspended sentences to friends of Katy French

Two friends of the late model, Katy French have been given suspended sentences for facilitating a drug deal on the weekend the 24-year-old died.

Kieron Ducie of Lambertstown Manor, Kilmessan, Co Meath, and Ann Corcoran of Tolka Road, Clonliffe Road admitted procuring another man to possess drugs.

Mr Ducie was given a two-and-a-half year sentence, his ex-partner received a two-year sentence, with both terms suspended in full.

The court heard that Kieron Ducie and Ann Corcoran heard a bang from the bedroom in their house where Katy French was sleeping.

They found the model lying face down beside a bed, bouncing up and down from the ground.

Earlier in the night, Ducie and Corcoran had arranged a drug deal where Katy French drove her Range Rover to a petrol station and paid €200 for cocaine.

The former partners claim they were facilitating a friend, and had nothing to gain from arranging the deal.

Defence lawyers suggested taking drugs would not have been unknown to Katy French, telling the court a former partner of the late model described her as a "two-day-on, one-day-off cocaine abuser".

Judge Michael O'Shea imposed suspended sentences on the two accused, noting Katy French had her whole life ahead of her, and that her loss was tragic.
