An Irish man has died in a workplace accident in Australia, it has emerged.

An Irish man has died in a workplace accident in Australia, it has emerged.

The Department of Foreign Affairs are providing consular assistance to his family.

Reports suggest the man died in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales on Friday last.

It is reported that 37-year-old Paul Walsh, from Tubbercurry in Co Sligo, was working on a broadband installation at the time.

He suffered a fatal head injury.

It is understood he emigrated to Australia seven years ago.
