At around 5.40am, gardaí were alerted to a car on fire in the forecourt of a service station on the Kells Road in Ardee. The blaze was extinguished and no one was injured.

The car, a red Peugeot 3008, 11 LH registration, was reported taken from a house in Newtown, Co. Meath, sometime between 12 midnight and 5am.

Two other vehicles, a white Hyundai i30 Van with a 141 D registration and a white Volkswagen Caddy van, 07 D registration, were also taken.

The caddy van was later found at the graveyard in Drumconrath Village, Co. Meath. The Hyundai has not been recovered.
