FF criticises BAI over row between Gallagher and RTE

Former presidential candidate Sean Gallagher is writing to the Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte this morning to request a public inquiry into the 'Frontline' Presidential debate on RTE.

Mr Gallagher is drafting the letter with his legal advisors this morning.

In a statement yesterday, Mr Gallagher described an allegation in the Sunday Independent, that a 'Frontline' audience member's question was changed by a researcher as "disturbing".

He said we now need to find out if RTE compromised the democratic process.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland last week upheld a complaint from Mr Gallagher relating to a bogus tweet read on the debate.

Fianna Fáil's Communications Spokesperson, Niall Collins, supports the call for a full inquiry and is also critical of the BAI's report into the matter.
