Education, transport and alcohol costs showed highest jump last year
Prices rose by 1.2 % last year when compared to December 2011, driven by many of the measures in the Budget.
Figures from the Central Statistics Office show that education, transport and alcohol costs registered the largest increases in the year.
The monthly figures show a drop in some costs - particularly in clothing and footwear, mainly due to January sales.
