ICMSA calls for lifting of farm-to-farm movement restrictions

The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association has welcomed the easing of some restrictions by the Minister for Agriculture on animal movements, but said farm-to-farm movement should now be allowed.

The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association has welcomed the easing of some restrictions by the Minister for Agriculture on animal movements, but said farm-to-farm movement should now be allowed.

ICMSA president Pat O'Rourke said his members were extremely disappointed that the restriction had not been lifted.

He said that an estimated 600,000 animals had now been confined to farms for over five weeks and that the situation was now "in crisis", as this had been a particularly bad spring for grass growth.
