CSO: Limerick hit hardest by unemployment

Seven of the top ten unemployment blackspots in Ireland are in Limerick, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.

Seven of the top ten unemployment blackspots in Ireland are in Limerick, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.

Their figures show that 440,000 people are on the Live Register and the unemployment rate is running at 15%.

Unite trade union research officer, Michael Taft, has identified the worst affected areas in the country, with parts of Galway and Longford making up the remainder of the top 10.
