AIB to switch from Laser to VISA debit cards

AIB has announced that it is switching from Laser cards to VISA debit cards.

The bank says around 1.4 million customers would be changed over during the second half of 2012.

AIB said the new cards would also include "contactless technology", allowing for purchases of up to €15 by holding the card over a special reader.

Existing cards will continue to operate as normal new Visa debit cards are issued to customers.
