Rhys Ruddock looks set to miss Ireland's Six Nations match against Italy in Rome on Sunday.

The 28-year-old back-row forward captained the Irish team that beat the Azzurri 54-7 in the Autumn International at Soldier Field in Chicago in November.

Leinster have revealed Ruddock suffered a hamstring strain in training last week and is entering a period of rehabilitation.

The province have also revealed that Dan Leavy and Dave Kearney are unavailable for selection this week.

Leavy is continuing to rehabilitate his calf issue, while Kearney is following return-to-play protocols following a head injury.
