RUC Chief: Bomb designed to kill policemen

A massive bomb discovered near Armagh city has been described as one "undoubtedly deployed to kill our officers and military colleagues" by RUC Chief Constable Ronnie Flanagan.

A massive bomb discovered near Armagh city has been described as one "undoubtedly deployed to kill our officers and military colleagues" by RUC Chief Constable Ronnie Flanagan.

Dissident republicans have been blamed for the device, thought to comprise of 1,000lbs of home-made explosives, which was packed into two roadside wheelie bins.

The haul was first spotted on Saturday night on the side of Brootally Road, five miles outside the city.
