Lawlor unlikely to lodge appeal

It looks increasingly unlikely that Dublin West TD Liam Lawlor will appeal his jail sentence for contempt of court.

It looks increasingly unlikely that Dublin West TD Liam Lawlor will appeal his jail sentence for contempt of court.

The former Fianna Fail TD is due to begin a seven-day jail term this afternoon unless he lodges an appeal with the Supreme Court.

Mr Lawlor has to report to gardai at 2pm and is then to be transferred to Mountjoy Prison in Dublin.
