Leinster Hold On For Dramatic Win Over La Rochelle

Leinster defended strongly in the final moments to hold on for a 16-14 win away to Ronan O'Gara's La Rochelle in the Champions Cup.

In a tight first half, La Rochelle opened up with a 6-3 lead, before Joe McCarthy scored Leinster's only try of the game after 20 minutes.

Sam Prendergast coverted, as they took a 10-6 lead into the interval.

Leo Cullen's side extended their lead through Prendergast to extended their lead to 16-6 in the second half, but La Rochelle ensured their would be a dramatic finish to the game.

A penalty from Hastoy brought the gap back to seven, before a try from Dillyn Leyds with 15 minutes to go narrowed the gap to two points.

La Rochelle had a penalty to win it in the 80th minute which hit the post, before Josh Van Der Flier charged down a drop goal attempt to win the game as Leinster ran out as winners.
