Top seed and three-time former champion Martina Hingis took just 39 minutes to book a second round place at Australian Open 2001.

She defeated Katalin Marosi-Aracama in two sets - 6-1, 6-1.

It is her 28th singles win from her last 29 matches at Melbourne Park.

Hingis, who was dethroned by American Lindsay Davenport in last year's final, is hungrier than ever to regain the Australian Open crown - for one, it was the first major title she ever won [in 1997] and secondly, it was also her most recent Grand Slam victory [1999].

It became apparent very early on Tuesday evening that Hungary's Katalin Marosi-Aracama wasn't going to stand in Hingis's way of a seventh consecutive second round appearance at Melbourne Park.
