Former Ireland U20 prop Paddy McAllister has excaped any long-term injury after being stretchered from the field during Ulster's pre-season encounter with Bath last Friday evening.

Ulster physio Gareth Robinson reported: "Paddy was helped from the field last Friday having sustained a neck injury.

"However, X-rays and a CT scan have come back clear, though he has been left with a stiff and painful neck and back that will require physio and ongoing assessment".

Loose-head McAllister and fellow prop Adam Macklin, a tight-head, are expected to make a serious challenge for first-team game time this season under coach Brian McLaughlin.
