Ulster’s new signing John Afoa is unavailable for the province’s Heineken Cup Round 2 encounter with Leicester Tigers at Welford Road on Saturday (6pm) after he returned to act as best man at fellow All Black Jerome Kaino’s wedding.

Aside from Afoa’s unorthodox absence, which Ulster Rugby were aware of when he arrived ahead of schedule earlier this month, Brian McLaughlin has no new injury worries ahead of their Pool 4 match.

Ruan Pienaar, Luke Marshall and Jerry Cronin have been omitted from the 31-man provisional squad as they remain sidelined through injury.

Ulster started their campaign with an impressive 16-11 win over Clermont Auvergne at the weekend but there are no casualties from the bruising encounter.

Leicester recorded a 12-28 victory away over Aironi in Round 1 meaning the winner of Saturday's match will occupy first position going into the double headers in December.

The two sides last met in the 2003/04 tournament with Ulster registering an emphatic 33-0 win at before being on the wrong end of a 49-7 scoreline in the away tie.
