Next years' Grammy Awards are to be hosted from New York, according to reports.
The ceremony moved to Los Angeles four years ago following a dispute between the academy and New York officials.
But it is thought that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has invited the academy to host the ceremony back in the city.
The Grammys moved to Los Angeles from New York in 1999, following a dispute between Michael Greene, president of the academy, and New York's then-Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.
Greene has often said the programME should move back and forth between New York and Los Angeles.
The news is expected to be formally announced at a press conference in New York.
A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles mayor's office told Hollywood Reporter: "Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world and we would hope that at some point in the future the Grammys will return to the city."
The Grammys are broadcast in nearly 160 countries, generating an estimated £28 million into its host city's economy.
