The Irish soccer squad is due to meet up for training this morning ahead of Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against Germany.

Steve Staunton has already been forced to make two changes to his squad for his first competitive game as manager.

Sean St Leger of Preston links up with the squad today after he secured an Irish passport through the grandparent rule.

He has been drafted in to replace injured defender Stephen Kelly, while Barnsley goalkeeper Nicky Colgan has also been called up to replace the injured Paddy Kenny.

Saturday's match will be seen as a major test for Staunton, who has already seen his side lose to Chile and Holland in his two of his three friendly matches in charge.

However, winger Damien Duff said yesterday the Irish would be fired up for the clash.

"It's obviously a massive task going to Germany and trying to get a result, but if one team can do it, the Irish can," he said.
