Three boys stabbed in Junior Cert night fight

Three teenage boys were stabbed in a row last night as thousands gathered to celebrate their Junior Certificate results, Gardai confirmed today.

Three teenage boys were stabbed in a row last night as thousands gathered to celebrate their Junior Certificate results, gardaí confirmed today.

Two of the boys, who were all aged between 15 and 16, required hospital treatment after the assault.

Gardaí said it appeared there was no-one else involved in the fight at Merchants Quay Shopping Centre in Cork.

One of the boys received a stab wound to the chest and groin area and was rushed to Cork University Hospital.

The other youth was stabbed in the right leg and taken to the South Infirmary Hospital, while the third, who was wounded in the hand, did not require hospital treatment.

Gardaí at Anglesea Street station in Cork said they are still looking into the incident.
