The ISEQ index of Irish shares saw a small gain of 3.90 points to 7761.8 today.
In-the-news airline Ryanair saw a 2c rise to €7.68 this morning. It emerged today that hundreds of Ryanair passengers have been delayed in Spain after three aircraft were reportedly struck by lightening.
One British family said they were originally told that the setbacks were due to lightening damage, but were then informed today the delay was due to "operational problems at the company".
A Ryanair spokesperson says they understand four aircraft were hit by lightening but are trying to gather more information.
Meanwhile in the financial sector, fortunes were mixed. AIB saw the largest gain, up 8c to €19.53. Bank of Ireland rose 2c to €14.77. Anglo Irish Bank saw a 2c dip to €13.03. Irish Life and Permanent rose 2c to €17.95.
There was food for thought for the sector today after a new report by Standard Life showed that we are turning away from financial institutions when it comes to seeking advice on money matters, in favour of brokers.
