Body of missing fisherman recovered

Garda divers have recovered the body of a 42-year-old fisherman who has been missing since going swimming in the River Barrow in Co Carlow on Monday.

Garda divers have recovered the body of a 42-year-old fisherman who has been missing since going swimming in the River Barrow in Co Carlow on Monday.

Thomas Butler got into difficulty while swimming near Lanigan's Lock, two miles downstream from Graiguecullen Bridge.

His body was found around two miles from Carlow town this morning.

A post mortem is due to be carried out today.
