Roscommon's David Casey is likely to miss his county's opening games in the upcoming National League campaign because of a serious knee injury.

Casey suffered the damage in a recent FBD Connacht League tie against Sligo IT and has been confirmed as a medium-term injury casualty.

A Roscommon source said: "It's a big blow to the team. To lose him for nearly half of the league is a bitter pill to swallow. "
