Dead Briton identified after Tasmania coach plunge
The British tourist confirmed dead after a coach crash in Australia has been identified.
Judy Franklin, of Cambridgeshire, is one of four fatalities in a coach crash in Tasmania.
The British High Commission in Canberra said two more Britons could be among the dead.
Police in Hobart added three British tourists were among six survivors in hospital.
Hobart police spokesman Peter Hazelwood said one British woman was in a critical condition, a man travelling with her was described as stable and a second Briton was also stable in hospital.
Three people died at the scene and a fourth on the way to hospital.
The accident happened as the group was on a night tour to see the wildlife at the Cradle Mountain complex at about 10.15pm local time.
Insp Matthew Richmond of Hobart police said the coach had stopped on a narrow gravel road near the Cradle Mountain tourist complex to allow another vehicle to pass when it "just seemed to have toppled over down a steep bank".
One theory to the crash is that the road gave way under the weight of the bus.
Those on board included tourists from Britain, the US, New Zealand and Australia, he added.
Six survivors remain in North West Regional Hospital in Tasmania - the three Britons and three Australians - one of whom is in a critical condition.
