Longford Town manager Alan Matthews returns from a scouting mission in Liechtenstein looking for some answers to problems closer to home against Bohemians tonight at Flancare Park (7.30pm).
Matthews was running the rule over FC Vaduz in the central European financial centre ahead of their UEFA Cup qualifying round first leg on July 15 but the midlanders face a game with Bohs that is anything but a home banker.
Town have not won for more than a month and have not scored in 270 minutes of league action since Vinny Perth hit a 90th minute equaliser at St Patrick’s Athletic.
With a Bohs attack led by Irish international striker Glen Crowe, and Matthews missing suspended defensive duo Alan Murphy and skipper Barry Ferguson, the midlanders face problems at both ends of the field.
Bohs, knocked out of second place last night by Drogheda United, can regain the position immediately behind Shelbourne with a victory tonight, but have a number of walking wounded in the squad heading for Flancare Park.
Striker Stephen Ward returns from a knee injury and defender Colin Hawkins could come back despite breaking his nose at Cork City two weeks ago.
Midfielder Bobby Ryan and defender Ken Oman face fitness tests on thigh and hamstring problems respectively.
