IFA could buy sugar beet interests says minister

Junior Marine Minister, Hugh Byrne has said Irish Sugar should sell their interests to the IFA in an attempt to resolve the current sugar beet dispute.

Junior Marine Minister, Hugh Byrne has said Irish Sugar should sell their interests to the IFA in an attempt to resolve the current sugar beet dispute.

Mr Byrne argues that farmers could then operate the company's sugar refining division in a joint venture with a more progressive food company.

He added that farmers "would love" to see someone take over and deal with someone on a professional basis.
