Kris Humphries was “blindsided” by Kim Kardashian filing for divorce.

The basketball player has yet to speak publicly about the end of his marriage to reality TV star Kim - who filed for divorce last week, 72 days after their wedding - but his father insists he knew nothing about it.

William Humphries told Life & Style magazine: "There was never a discussion about it — it just came out of nowhere and blindsided Kris.

“How could someone do that? Kris was completely surprised. The news was already published before he found out. Kris is hurting, but we’re here for him. It’s not a nice situation."

Despite William’s claims, a representative for Kim has said he knew about the divorce before it was made public.

Kris, 26, went back to his hometown of Chanhassen in Minnesota after the news of the divorce, where a friend said he was so upset he refused to speak to Kim, 31, until she surprised him by flying out to see him last weekend.

Although they held crisis talks, Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner, said she doesn’t know if they will get back together.

In an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ last night she said: “I don't know. Kim has been on the road. She's trying to figure it out. She's had a very difficult decision to make.

“I told her, ‘Follow your heart and the only thing I can do is be there for you.’ She's my daughter and I have to respect what she's going through. It's a very brave thing she did. She didn't want to disappoint anybody, let alone her family.”

Kim has been throwing herself into her work since filing for divorce, and is currently filming ‘The Marriage Counselor’ in Atlanta.
