Everton lost 3-1 to Mexican side Club America in their final Copa de Tejas match at Reliant Stadium.

Manager David Moyes had watched his side crush Mexican champions Pachuca 5-2 in their opening match, but had only Marcus Bent’s first goal for the club as any consolation against Club America.

Francisco Torres put the Mexicans in front in the 19th minute, and Pavel Pardo doubled their advantage in the 57th minute.

Bent pulled one back two minutes from the end when he headed home a Nick Chadwick cross.

Rodrigo Valenzuela struck in injury-time to seal the win for Club America.
