A Dutchman was jailed for 15 years today for shooting and killing a boy who had thrown a snowball at his car.
The victim, 13-year-old Sedar Soares, was in a group of children throwing snowballs at passers-by in a Rotterdam car park. When they hit a car, its driver stepped out and opened fire at them, prosecutors said.
Soares was struck in the head by a bullet and died later in the hospital.
The gunman, identified only as Gerald H, was convicted of manslaughter. His lawyers had argued that eyewitnesses wrongly identified him as the shooter.
