Billyvoddan could be set for a busy few weeks as connections consider running him in both Saturday’s Aon Chase and the Racing Post Chase a fortnight later.
Henry Daly’s eight-year-old put some disappointing efforts behind him when registering an emphatic 12-length victory in the BGC Silver Cup back in December but has not been seen since.
He is reportedly in fine form and ready to tackle this weekend’s Newbury contest, however, in which much focus will be centred upon Kauto Star.
Speaking yesterday, Michael Meagher, racing manager to owner Trevor Hemmings said: “It is not fully decided yet but there is a possibility he could run in both.
“He is probably going to run on Saturday but that doesn’t rule him out of Kempton. The horse is in good form, but obviously he is not going to go and beat Kauto Star.
“If it got bottomless he wouldn’t run – he needs decent ground. Richard Johnson will probably ride him at Newbury if available,” he told the Racing Post.
