Connections of Baracouda are likely to consider running in the totesport Long Walk Hurdle if the race is rescheduled.
The extended-three-mile-one-furlong contest was due to be run at Windsor yesterday but the meeting was abandoned due to frost.
Baracouda was not among the declared runners for the race after a clerical error at trainer Francois Doumen’s yard resulted in him not being confirmed at the five-day stage.
However, the abandonment of the meeting means the 10-year-old could line up for the Grade One contest if it is switched to another venue.
“If the race were rescheduled, it would definitely be something we would have to look at,” said Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus.
“If they run it at Chepstow, the track would be no problem for him but it will also depend on when it is rescheduled for.”
Baracouda has won the Long Walk Hurdle, which is usually run at Ascot, four times before but he also has an alternative option in the Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown on December 28.
“If it is next week, that would be great but he also has the option of Leopardstown,” added Berry.
“That’s a nice little race over three miles so we will have to see what happens.”
