Dyson and Montgomerie improve placings
Simon Dyson and Colin Montgomerie both made good starts in the final round of the US PGA Championship at Southern Hills today.
Dyson clawed his way up to tie for 15th with four birdies on his first six holes, while Montgomerie played the front nine in two under.
A pair of birdies to start the round got Dyson going – and he added birdies at the fourth and sixth to get to two over for the championship.
Montgomerie, who missed the cut at the first three majors of the season, had three birdies on his front nine, including a chip-in from just off the green on the par-four seventh.
He bogeyed the eighth hole but closed his front nine with another birdie to get to six over.
Despite their strong starts, the pair are still well off the pace set by Tiger Woods – the world number one leads at seven under, three shots better than Stephen Ames.
Woods and Ames were due to tee off together in the final pairing later.
