Wayne Bridge makes his first start of the season in Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Schalke at Stamford Bridge.
The left-back has been struggling with a hip injury at the start of the season and has also been serving a domestic suspension for a dismissal in a reserve match.
Bridge replaces Juliano Belletti, and boss Avram Grant made one change from the side that defeated Middlesbrough at the weekend, with Claude Makelele stepping in for Mikel John Obi.
The German side include Kevin Kuranyi, the striker who scored against England at Wembley earlier in the season.
