ISEQ makes gains

The Irish index of ISEQ shares was up this morning by 67 points to 8434.40.

The Irish index of ISEQ shares was up this morning by 67 points to 8434.40.

Financial stocks performed particularly well with AIB the mornings best performer gaining 33c to €18.61. Bank of Ireland climbed 32c to €13.80 with Anglo Irish Bank up 29c to €14.41 and Irish Life and Permanent up a modest 2c to €18.02.

Elsewhere, the positive trend continued within the food sector with IAWS up 18c to €15.80 and Glanbia up 2c to €4.26. Kerry Group, however suffered a loss of 6c dropping to €21.10.

It was bad news also for Paddy Power bookmakers, emerging as the morning's worst performer with shares plummeting 25c to €24.65.
