Minister for Foreign Affairs Minister Dermot Ahern is in the US today to hold meetings on immigration issues.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Minister Dermot Ahern is in the US today to hold meetings on immigration issues.

The Minister has said it is too early to say whether the change in the political landscape in the US - where the Democrats have earned majorities in both the House of Representatives and in the Senate - will be a positive or negative development for Irish people living in America.

He said: “There is a school of thought that the Democrats don’t want to rock the boat too quickly…..but obviously the Irish Government will keep the pressure on.”
