Brian Cody will go forth in search of a fourth All-Ireland SHC title as Kilkenny senior manager after the Cats' county board confirmed his re-appointment last night.
The James Stephens clubman, who took time to consider his future following Kilkenny's dramatic All-Ireland semi-final exit at the hands of Galway in August, will be all out to gain another Liam McCarthy Cup in his seventh season in charge.
Cody is the most decorated of modern hurling managers having won three All-Irelands and three National League crowns with the Cats since taking over from his cousin Kevin Fennelly in 1999.
Former Under-21 boss Martin Fogarty and Mick Dempsey are staying on as selectors with Cody, while former Laois footballer and manager Dempsey will also assume the role of team trainer.
In what is seen by many as a big blow, Mick O'Flynn has opted to end his tenure as Kilkenny trainer having played an integral part in five of the Cats' All-Ireland wins since 1991.
A six-time National Triple Jump champion, Corkman O'Flynn was an admired figure amongst Kilkenny panels of the past and present.
