DUP and SF at odds over all-Ireland investment body

The DUP and Sinn Féin are at odds over calls for a single body to promote investment in both the North and the Republic.

The DUP and Sinn Féin are at odds over calls for a single body to promote investment in both the North and the Republic.

Ulster Bank chairman Alan Gillespie has proposed that the IDA and Invest NI be amalgamated into one organisation, saying it would benefit both jurisdictions.

Sinn Féin has welcomed the suggestion and says it makes good economic sense.

However, the DUP's Nigel Dodds, Minister for Enterprise in the Stormont Executive, has completely rejected the move, saying the North and the Republic are in direct competition for foreign investment.
