Armstrong cancer summit to get underway in Dublin

The three-day global cancer summit organised by Lance Armstrong's Livestrong Foundation is due to get underway at the RDS in Dublin today.

The three-day global cancer summit organised by Lance Armstrong's Livestrong Foundation is due to get underway at the RDS in Dublin today.

The event will be launched by the seven-time Tour de France winner later this morning.

It is the first such summit to be held outside the USA and is due to be attended by Health Minister Mary Harney, as well as her counterparts from various other countries.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation has raised almost €220m for cancer causes since being set up in 1997.

Armstrong has been competing in the Tour of Ireland over the past few days.
