Bad run for Longford continues

Drogheda moved back up to fourth place in the table as Longford’s dreadful run continued.

Longford’s defending saw little improvement from the 5-0 drubbing at Finn Harps last week.

Drogheda striker Sami Ristila brought a good save from Stephen O’Brien on 14 minutes before he was allowed room to send in a low cross from the right which Town skipper Barry Ferguson turned into his own net for what proved the only goal of the game.

Town were better in the second half and Dessie Baker came within inches of levelling on 59 minutes when his cross-cum-shot came back off an upright with keeper Dan Connor well beaten.
